Sandra Merrill attended a culinary arts school in New York City in 1982. She graduated in the top her class. She worked in several bakeries in New York where she learned the art of working with chocolate and gourmet desserts.

In November 1988 she moved to Virginia Beach where she worked in one the top bakeries in the area. There she fell in love with a different aspect of baking,
Cake Decorating.

 After working for a couple of years for the bakery. She decided to branch out on her own. She hired contractor and turned her garage into a place of business. In February 1995 she opened Merrill's Desserts.

Sandra Merrill has an unique, creative vision when it comes to cake designing.
